Mobile Mapping

Fast and efficient mapping with Mobile Mapping

By combining advanced imagery, 3D laser scanning and a variety of mobile transportation platforms, 3D Mobile Mapping enables GlobeZenit to visualize, record, measure and understand environments, wherever we may be.

With the advanced Leica Pegasus:Two mapper and the Leica Pegasus TRK Evo, we combine multiple laser scanners with GNSS receivers, IMU and a DMI. With our Mobile Mapping technology, we offer a vehicle-independent mobile mapping service (road, rail or water).

Environments can be captured, visualised and measured at speeds of up to 120 km per hour, reducing time in the field by up to 60%.

Mobile Mapping: Mobile Precision in Spatial Data Collection

In the rapidly evolving world of geospatial technologies, mobile mapping occupies a prominent place as a highly effective method for collecting and analysing accurate geographical data. This advanced technique, which uses vehicles equipped with various sensors such as GPS, LiDAR systems, and photo cameras, enables professionals to create detailed 3D models of environments. This significantly enhances applications in sectors as diverse as urban planning, road construction, and utilities.

Technical Methods of Mobile Mapping

Integrated Systems and Sensors

Mobile mapping systems integrate various technologies working in sync to collect and process data. A central aspect is the deployment of LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) sensors. This technology uses light in the form of a pulsed laser to measure variables, providing accurate distance data and 3D digital representations.

Optimisation of data collection

Thanks to the system’s mobility, large areas can be covered in a short time. This is supported by advanced cameras that capture photorealistic images for visual documentation of the environment. The integration of these images with LiDAR data results in detailed and accurate maps.

Applications of Mobile Mapping

Urban planners and engineers use the data obtained by mobile mapping to create detailed city models. These models are crucial for designing efficient traffic flows, planning new roads or renovating existing infrastructure. Utilities also benefit from this data for managing underground pipes and cables.

Future Expectations and Innovations

The future of mobile mapping looks promising with continuous technological innovations. The integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning models is expected to further improve data processing and interpretation, leading to even faster and more accurate results.

Conclusion

Mobile mapping is transforming the way geographical information is collected and analysed, with far-reaching implications for many sectors. This technology offers unprecedented opportunities for detailed mapping of environments, which is essential in today’s data-driven society. With these technologies constantly evolving, the possibilities for professional application continue to expand, making the future of mobile mapping particularly exciting.
